Apr 05, 2006 Page 1 of 2 - Hacking Sof2 Game servers - posted in Security: Hi im new to this whole hacking thing and i was wondering if someone could please help me hack into an sof2 game servers (soldier of fortune2). Im not some dick trying to ruin peoples fun i just hate when a 12 year old thinks hes the shit because hes an admin so when im pwning his face he bans me from his server, anyhow i want. It requires more updates from the client side. Lowering the amount of time they can use the remover tool wasnt enough to solve the problem. I dont think anyone got auth on your server. But just incase I would change your RCON Password and only allow yourself rcon access from one IP.

    One thing I really like about Rising World is the type of people it gathers. This game seems to appeal to the 'older' more settled into gaming type. I played 3000 hours on Rust and had to put up with script kiddies always hacking the server breaking things it was just the way of life.


    Not Rising the world I use to think, the past couple weeks changed my mind.
    For whatever reason, someone has decided that they need to hack my server. The first time they hacked rcon, my bad I had several Admins and I did not change the password. After that, I changed the password on rcon and the server control panel. Today I was hacked again they hijacked my IP and I am not sure why? All I want to do is run a gaming server so people can come and play RW free of charge and hassle.


    I am not sure what I did to offend this person but if they are reading this I am sorry. But if I don't know what I did, I cannot fix it. If others think it is not personal, I believe it is. The first time they used rcon called me a lousy admin and a couple other words I do not allow on my server. I was really hoping they would reveal themselves so I could really talk to them but no luck. This should be read as a cautionary tale and hopefully, other servers will not have this issue. Or if they did they can come forward and maybe somehow guard against hacking.


    My hosting company is working with me to track down the IP where this originate not sure if they will have any luck though. This was pretty good they were able to get in stop the log and after that who knows?

Overview
This guide will cover the installation and operation of a Call of Duty 4 (COD4) server using screen. In this tutorial, we will install COD4 on Debian 7.
Requirements
Call of Duty 4 game client installer CD or image.
Debian server running a stable release (Wheezy, Jessie)
Xen/KVM VPS (1 CPU, 1GB Memory, 20GB Storage) as a minimum. This configuration may not be suitable for large servers.
Installation
Login as root on the server that you will be using for this installation.
Run the command below to update your server's list of available packages from the repositories and then upgrade any existing packages.

Screen is often times included with the OS image by default, but you may be required to install it yourself.

Because the Call of Duty 4 server only runs on i386 machines, you have to enable the 'multilib' feature in Debian.

For security purposes, we do not want to run the server using the root account. You should use a standard user account.
Create a directory for the game server.

Download the Call of Duty 4 dedicated server.

The download size is roughly 280 MB. When the download finishes, unpack the package.

Install the COD4 game client onto your computer. Copy the main and zone folder of the game client onto the COD4 directory of your server using your favorite SCP client.
Once your upload completes, download the IceOps made executable. It contains various bugfixes and improvements.

Make the server 'executable'.

Create a config file for the dedicated server.

If you want to run a simple 'Team Deathmatch' or 'Search & Destroy' server, then use this sample config.

Next, create a start-up script that starts a dedicated server (with screen) and enables map rotation.
